A popular tourist destination in India, Jaipur’s many historical heritage monuments are recorded as UNESCO world heritage sites. Some of them are Jantar Mantar and AMER Fort. As far as our incredible Indian tourism is concerned, Jaipur has been ranked as the 7th finest place to visit by tourists in Asia. Many sites in the city are worth seeing, like Hawa Mahal, Jal Mahal, City Palace, Amer Fort, Jantar Mantar, Nahargarh Fort, Jaigarh Fort, Birla Mandir, etc. Referred to as a World Heritage site, Amer Fort has tunnels that end up entering Jaigarh Fort. These fortresses were then used for warfare during the Rajputana sovereignty until the mid-19th century. Jaipur is situated on National Highway – 48, connecting Delhi and Mumbai. Jaipur is the headquarter of Jaipur railway division and north western railway zone of Indian Railways. Also known as the Paris of India because of the dominant color scheme of its building, the city is significant for its fashion industry as well. This exceptional beauty of Rajasthan was grounded in 1727 by Jai Singh II, a Kachhwaha Rajput ruler. The ruler of Amer has the city’s name to his credit, popularly famous among all as ‘Jaipur’, meaning the house of Jai.

2. Maota Lake

Maota Lake is a historical lake in Jaipur situated in the South city of Amer near Amber Fort. The ancient name of the lake is ‘Mahavata’. There are a large number of trees present near the lake. The lake is partially dried and contains an island named Kesar Kyari Bagh in the center. In the mid-15th century, a Maharaja planted ‘Kesar or saffron’ plants here, to give its extreme beauty, a touch of simplicity and fragrance. During the era of Rajputana rule, the lake used to get its reserve of water from rains in the monsoon season, which at the end was used to supply water to Amber fort and the common people residing nearby it. After seven to ten days of Ganesh Chaturthi, the lake authorities used to take possession of the idol for immersion in the Maota Lake.
