Since 2013, he has been the host of the live comedy podcast Kill Tony, which showcases both professional and amateur comedians who perform one-minute sets. Hinchcliffe’s primary occupation is roast comedy. having worked on the writing team for the Comedy Central Roast series. Appearing at Snoop Dogg’s All Def Digital Roast in 2016 and Tom Brady’s The Roast in 2024. Two comedy specials have been released by him, One Shot on Netflix in 2016 and Making Friends on YouTube in 2020.
Hinchcliffe’s reputation for dark humor, along with his insult-based roast comedy, has resulted in several controversies. Following his use of an anti-Asian slur against a Chinese American comedian opening his set in 2021, his agency dropped him and he lost multiple endorsements. He grew up in a rough neighborhood on the north side of the city and turned to insult comedy as a defense mechanism. During his teenage years, Hinchcliffe attended Ursuline High School and graduated in 2002.
Career
In 2007, Hinchcliffe relocated to Los Angeles to pursue his comedy career. He started performing stand-up at open mics at the Comedy Store. Hinchcliffe also worked at the phones and the cover booth there, eventually becoming a regular at the venue. At the Comedy Store, he was known for insulting other comedians and audience members in his shows, and for using sardonic humor to discuss sensitive topics. Hinchcliffe started Joe Rogan and Jeff Ross’s tour outside of the venue. Ross was so impressed with Hinchcliffe that he aided him in securing his initial writing assignments, which included working on the “Comedy Central Roast” television series. Justin Bieber, James Franco, and Rob Lowe were roasted by Hinchcliffe in the series.
